Figure 3

Upon our arrival at the nursery plot, we were briefed about growing media and provided with examples of its types by the lecturer

What is growing media?
  • Growing media are materials used for cultivating plants, such as soil, compost, peat, vermiculite, perlite, and various soilless mixes.
  • These media provide the necessary support and nutrients for plant growth.

Figure 4

To complete the nursery task, we had to blend the soil, incorporating a mixture of clay, organic fertilizer, which was chicken dung, and sand. This was done to create a balanced medium for planting.

Figure 5
(BEFORE)

We used a hoe to mix the soil. A soil mixture ratio of 4:2:1, with 4 parts clay, 2 parts of organic fertilizer, and 1 part sand.

Figure 6
(AFTER)

After completing the soil mixing, we had to place it in the polybags, with each student responsible for one polybag

Figure 7

Following the completion of that task, we placed the filled polybags in rows on the ground

Figure 8

Following the recess, we advanced to the herb plot, where we actively cleared the circular weeds surrounding the lime plant.
