STUDENT ACTIVITIES

A part 1 student gave a speech about what they had done last week and before

The lecturer also gave a speech to remind us of the FPA subject's goal

(BEFORE)

We moved to the cocoa plot, and one of my friends pruned the trees

What is pruning?
Pruning is the horticultural practice of selectively trimming or cutting away parts of a plant, such as branches, to remove dead or overgrown parts, shape the plant, or encourage healthy growth.

Benefits of the pruning:
1. Removing dead or diseased branches can improve overall plant health.
2. Removing overhanging or potentially hazardous branches enhances safety.
3. Pruning can help prevent the spread of diseases by removing affected parts.
4. Proper pruning can make it more difficult for pests to infest the plant.
5. Pruning can allow more sunlight to reach the lower parts of the plant.

(AFTER)

Pruning enhanced the appearance of the cocoa trees and helped them grow vigorously

Figure 5

After recess time, we went to the herb plot to perform circular weeding around the lemon grass plants. Based on the picture, my friend used a hoe to clear the area around them

Figure 6

For safety reasons, the lecturer provided us with the new innovation of a lawnmower, as it doesn't have sharp blades and is safer for daily use by students

Figure 7
(BEFORE)

Thankfully, with the help of the lawnmower, clearing the weeds became more efficient, especially for thick weed growth

Figure 8
(AFTER)

The area had been cleared of weeds, and we had completed our task for the week. Afterward, the class was dismissed
